Mato Homola tested at Hungaroring
Next weekend, FIA ETCC season kicks off and many teams are finalizing their preparations. Slovak representative, Mato Homola, and his Team Homola Motorsport spent one productive testing day at a racing circuit Hungaroring near Budapest.
Mato was getting used to his new SEAT Leon Cup Racer, which he has already tested twice at Slovakia Ring. It made sense to test in Hungary at Hungaroring, as it the first event of FIA ETCC 2015. It was necessary to find an optimal set-up and it was also a great chance to compare with other race cars over there. 6 new SEAT Leon Cup Racer, have been seen on the track. New Leon became very popular race car, not just for the good price, but also for its handling and the speed.
Team Homola Motorsport had some minor problems with the brake temperature, but it was resolved very quickly and at the end of testing day, Mato and his team did a good set-up. Mato improved his best lap time at Hungaroring at last stint and he kept the position of the fastest race car of testing day till the end. "I am very happy to test at Hungaroring. I think that this test was more important than the previous ones, because Hungaroring hosts the 1st FIA ETCC event. In the beginning, we struggled with temperature of brakes and the set-up. Moreover, I had to adopt the racing style of my SEAT and to understand how to drive with it, at this technical circuit. At the end of the day, we found an ideal set-up, which suits me perfectly and I can handle car how I actually want to. Therefore, I believe that we are fully prepared for the first event and I hope our fans will come to Hungaroring to support me during FIA ETCC races, which are going to support FIA WTCC programme."
Day after the testing in Hungary, you could meet Mato Homola and his sponsor SEAT on sport car event at Pezinska Baba near Bratislava organized by magazine RoadLife. Mato has been driving the only one SEAT Leon Cupra Combi at Slovakia.
Potential customers were on a passenger seat while the true circuit champion was driving. "Honestly, it was the first time I drove this sport combi car and I was very surprised (almost shocked) how great sporty DNA this car offers. Somebody could say, that from family car you cannot get anything exciting, but the opposite is true here. Cupra offers powerful engine (280 PS), great handling – Limited-slip differential is excellent in the corners and it has awesome brakes, which were 'alive' even with 4 people on board driving down from the hill! All my passengers and me were fascinated by the car and it is obvious that SEAT truly transfers technology from race environment to street cars. As the hill was not closed, I had drive according to the rules, but Cupra showed its power in the corners. I think all my passengers did enjoy it too."
